Healthy Habits for the New Year

A new year has begun! Some enter the new year with energy and eagerness. However, if you’re reading this and you feel like “new year, same ol’ me” here are a few ideas to help you begin your new year on the right foot.

Find Your Tribe

Make sure you surround yourself with positive energy this year! You know Good Vibes Only. Having the right people around you can help you to grow and glow from the inside out. Your tribe can consist of friends, family, fellow church members, or co-workers. Just make sure they bring the best out of you. Don’t forget to have a friend you have to be a friend. So show them the same amount of love you would expect them to give to you.

Create Zen

Find a hobby, pastime activity, or ritual that allows you to de-stress. I believe that self-care is vital to maintaining an inner peace. Find something that allows you to disconnect from the world for a period of time like reading a book or going for a walk. If disconnecting is not something that you can handle, carve out a period of your day or week that allows you to indulge in your guilty pleasure, like an hour dedicated to scrolling through Instragram.

Balanced Nutrition

Holiday eating can wreak havoc on our bodies. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Just hit that reset button and start over. There are more than enough fad diets, weight loss drinks, and trendy nutrition plans out there to choose from. I’m not going to promote any of them here, nor will I judge any of them. All I want to do is encourage you to find a healthy balance and relationship with your lifestyle and the things you eat. If you stray and find yourself going down the wrong path, don’t worry. Right the ship and get back on track.

Get Moving

Of course, what would a new years post be without a mention of fitness. Working out, losing weight, or getting in shape are the most popular new years resolutions out there. And I see no problem with that. Personally I workout for three reasons. One, I have a sedentary job and I need to move more. Two, I love to eat and that includes eating the not-so healthy stuff. Three, I want to feel good in my clothes. Some attend the gym daily. Most don’t. Some people like using heavy weights. Some prefer cardio. Find whatever floats your boat and make it a part of your lifestyle this year.

Hopefully, this year is a success filled year for you! Check out a few more of my helpful tips below!
