June/July Photo Wrap-Up 2016

Hey y’all! So I completely forgot to do a photo wrap-up for June. Since I didn’t take many pictures June or so far into July I decided to mash them together. Enjoy!

June kicked off the beginning of summer! I made sure to snack on some summer favorites of mine. I also refused to let the summer heat keep me from enjoying the outdoors.

June also brought fun times with friends! It was a lot of fun and much needed girl time.

Of course David and I had to get some good EATS! Early in the month of July we stopped by Upper Crust at 9110 S Yale Ave, in Tulsa. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was pretty laid back.

Was that not enough Colormyfootsteps for you? Well, don’t forget to follow me on my other social media platforms (Instagram: Colormyfootsteps, Facebook: Colormyfootsteps) to see what else I get into. Of course you can find me on YouTube as well.

Hanging around town!

David and I at the OKC Wellness and Fitness Expo!

My mom and I at the 50th Annual Porter Peach Festival!

Thanks for stopping by my neck of the blogging woods. I’ll see you guys and girls later!

A Chilly Day At The Myriad Botanical Gardens

This weekend my husband and I had the pleasure of visiting the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City, OK. The gardens are located in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City or better known as Bricktown. The Myriad Gardens were modeled after the Tivoli Gardens of Denmark. However, it wasn’t formally named, the Myriad Gardens,  until years later. Several features of the landmark are ponds, waterfalls and the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory.

The gardens have a large variety of plants. Of course due to the amount of plants, the gardens are home to several animals and insects. One of the most popular guests of the gardens are the ducks.

The Myriad Botanical Gardens hosts horticulture classes, health & wellness retreats, yoga and during the winter months they have an ice skating rink available for family fun.

The Myriad Botanical Gardens are open 7 days a week and the cost of admission is as follows:

Adults – $8

Seniors – $7

Active Military – $7

Students with student ID – $7

Children (4-12yr) – $5

Children (under 4yrs) – FREE

*The garden grounds are free

For more information visit the Myriad Botanical Gardens website here.

We had an awesome, yet cold, time at the gardens. My favorite part  was the waterfall inside the Tropical Conservatory. We will definitely be making another trip here in the spring. Thanks for reading.

Fellow Okie: Margo Gianos

31933_366694873443246_1967319407_n

Do you remember the Fabulous New You Conference I attended a few weeks ago? Well truth be told I almost didn’t go. Leading up to that conference I wanted to go but wasn’t sure I could make it happen. Despite my reluctance I decided to go because of two things, 1) I had a feeling it would give me the mental boost I needed and 2) I might meet potential Fellow Okies. And you know what?? Both of those things happened. I met Ms. Margo Gianos at that conference and was in awe. I spoke with her briefly about the business, Honestly Margo, and was very impressed.  She mentioned that she knew from a young age that she wanted to own her own business. Margo is professional, friendly and very knowledgeable about her product. I was a little nervous about asking her to be a Fellow Okie, she’s a busy young woman after all, but to my surprise she was for it. Read further to see what Honestly Margo is all about.

  • What’s your name?

My name is Margo Gianos

  • What is the name of your company? Is the company based in Oklahoma?

The name of my company is Honestly Margo and it is based out of Oklahoma.

  • What city in Oklahoma do you call home?

I live in Oklahoma City

  • What cities in Oklahoma have you lived in?

Oklahoma City is the only place I have lived

  • What’s your favorite thing about Oklahoma? Compared to other places you have traveled, what stands out most about Oklahoma?

My favorite thing about Oklahoma is that the people here are always so friendly which also stands out to me compared to other places I have traveled.

  • Tell me a little bit about your company.

Honestly Margo is an all natural lip balm and body balm company. My products only have four ingredients and Honestly Margo is in many retailers across the country.

  • What are your goals for the company?

I want everyone to know the name Honestly Margo! 🙂 I want to grow my company as much as I can.

  • It can be hard to stay motivated. How do you keep the momentum going?

When school gets difficult and I get busy with soccer that is when I get unmotivated. I always want to grow it (the business), it’s just I might go to bed early that night instead of reply to emails. I always do the work that I need to though and I never really get very unmotivated. I just have to look at where I want my company to be and work on getting it there.

  • How can others help you achieve your goals?

Other people can help me achieve my goals by simple sharing my story with their friends! Following me on social media is greatly appreciated and I love it when people hit the share button on something I’ve posted on Facebook. I love when people share how much they love my products too. 🙂

  • What is your advice for entrepreneurs, from the youngest to the more mature, on beginning their own businesses?

Follow your dreams, whatever it may be and don’t let haters get to you. People are always going to shoot your ideas down, but you just have to put your hater blockers on and tune them out!

  • How can people contact you?

I can be contacted through my email, honestlymargo@gmail.com

Fabulous New You Conference!! Get Yo Life!

Have you ever just been in a funk? You know…feeling like you need a change. You start to feeling like there has to be more that you could be doing with your life. I can relate all too well to that feeling (hence the creation of this blog). The universe has a way of pushing or pulling you into the next stage of your life and if you refuse to move forward you might find yourself thinking about the “Would’ve, Should’ve, Could’ve” lol. Sometimes you need a kick in the butt to kick start (no pun intended lol) the change in your life. On March 20th I attended the Fabulous New You Conference hosted by Aprille Franks-Hunt of Women Recharged. I must say I had a great time. Here’s a little tiny scoop on the event…

The ballroom was very festive yet professional

The ballroom was very festive yet professional

The event was hosted by Aprille Franks-Hunt the CEO of Women Recharged. The conference took place at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. Although it was a two day event I only could afford (time wise) to go one day. One nice little sprinkle from heaven was the opportunity for me to run into a former classmate Ceanti, who happened to be working the event as part of the Glam Squad (yes very chic). You should remember Ms. Ceanti, she is one of my Fellow Okies and you can find the interview/questionnaire that she did for me here.

A plethora of knowledgeable speakers

A plethora of knowledgeable speakers

To start off with there was so much energy in the room. All of the speakers present brought something unique to the stage. They were from different walks of life and had there own stories to share. My personal favorite was talking to young and talented entrepreneur Margo from Honestly Margo. She was 12 years old when she began her business and is now 14 years old balancing school, running her own business and all the typical things a teenager has to do. I purchased one of her lip balms and I must say that I was very impressed with the product. Simple, natural ingredients…what more could you need?

The financial seminar was very insightful.

The financial seminar was very insightful.

The topics discussed were sure to hit home with you somewhere in your life. Personal image, staying motivated, financial planning, finding a Youtube presence and even romantic relationships were discussed. I left feeling like I had affirmation that pursuing my goals and dreams was possible…and necessary. It was so awesome and I’m sure they will have it again next year so look out for it. And it is not just for women, bring your boo too. I’ll leave you with a quote that I love from the conference from Ms. Margo herself.

“Put your hater blockers on”.

Throwing Weight Like It’s My Job…2015 NASA Natural Nationals

There are so many marvelous and whimsical places that a couple could celebrate Valentines Day weekend. I highly doubt that sitting in a hotel conference room and watching people lift things up and put them down –>insert Planet Fitness Lunk joke here<– would be considered one of them. But guess what…that’s how this girl spent her weekend and I enjoyed every minute of it. If you’ve been reading my blogs or following me on Instagram for a while now then you would know that my boyfriend is a powerlifter. You may even remember my August post of his first full powerlifting meet which was also through the same powerlifter association, NASA. This past weekend we set out to Oklahoma City to attend this competitive event.

The weekend was not all heavy metal. After the boyfriend weighed-in for his weight class, we both headed over to a nearby Mexican restaurant (sorry I do not recall the name and can’t seem to find it on Google maps). The food was very good and the strawberry margarita was delicious.

Yummy

Yummy

We stayed at the Comfort Suites located about a mile up the road from the meet location, Wyndham Garden Hotel. We got a good nights rest, after chatting it up with my brother and his girlfriend who came to support (Yay!). The next morning was time to get to work!

There was a pretty good-sized crowd at this event. There were plenty of competitors ranging from novice to experienced. These events go typically for about 6-7 hours, depending on how many people compete. If you ever attend one of these events be prepared to sit, sit and sit some more. The meet is non-stop with short breaks between categories.

I am very proud of my boyfriend and his friend and fellow competitor Toby. They put many months of training into this event and it really paid off. Powerlifting isn’t something to do flippantly, you have to train hard and constantly plan ways to meet your personal records. It’s so awesome to be in a room filled with people working towards their own personal goals. I had an awesome time this weekend.

Very proud of him! Of course he had to represent for Keith's Ice Cold Beverages!
