Hey everyone!

This past weekend was such a beautiful weekend. David and I couldn’t wait to get out and enjoy the weather. We decided to make a few stops at some local events. We had a great time and of course we want to share it with you.

Our first destination was Art on Main in Jenks, OK. We arrived and David grabbed something to eat right away. There were a few local food trucks that I am familiar with. David decided on a pulled pork sandwich from The Local Table food truck. Once he finished we walked around admiring the art showcased at several of the art booths (tents). Live music, face painting and inflatables for the kids were on the scene. Of course art was on display by the artists. There were some awesome pieces available for purchase. A few of the artists that we were impressed with were Chris Hopkins and Kris Fairchild. Both artists reside here in Oklahoma.

Since we didn’t plan on purchasing any pieces of art we decided to cut our stay short.

Our second destination was Oysterfest 2016 at Guthrie Green in downtown Tulsa. Live music and a variety of booths offering their own oyster presentations were a part of the event. We looked around and took in the atmosphere before purchasing our tickets to try a few of the oyster choices. The money raised goes to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. We tried three booths total. I’ll be honest oysters are a required taste but I can see why some people find them tasty. There is a light seafood flavor to them. If they are prepared a certain way they can be spicy and/or smoky.

We had a wonderful time seeing what the Tulsa area had to offer this past weekend. I hope you got out there to enjoy the fall weather.

August Photo Wrap-Up 2015

Hey y’all! That time of the month has finally arrived. Here are some photos from the other randomness of the month of August. Enjoy!

Earlier in the month, David and I had an opportunity to try a new sushi spot. If you follow me on Instagram than you know that I am a loyal customer of Sushi Train here in Tulsa. However I think it’s always good to try and help new businesses. We ate at Sushi House on 71st & Lewis. It was pretty tasty but when it comes to ramen I have to say that Sushi Train reigns supreme. But I must say that Sushi House is worth a try.

My mom, David and I went to the 1st Tulsa Culture Festival at the Glenpool Convention Center in Gelnpool, OK. It was fun and interesting. We heard good music and spoke with local vendors. The highlight for us was the body paint.

Tulsa has the pleasure of having two inexpensive movie theaters (AKA $1 Movies). One of them was recently purchased and re-furbished. The Village Movies 8 is located on 71st & Memorial next to Vintage Stock. David and I love going to the movies so this is always a treat for us, especially when we can be entertained and save some money. We watched San Andres and it was a fun movie.

If you know me then you know that I am a creature of habit. However, I do like to break away from the ordinary and try new things. I tried a new hairstyle using Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter Whip Curl Creme. I liked the style and was able to make it last for a few days.

Sunday Funday & Flowers from The David!

This month has been full of beautiful Sundays. Sunday is a great time to toss on a cute outfit and relax. David was sweet enough to give me some flowers in my favorite color of course.

The Janet wig purchased on tonidaley.com!

I purchased this cute wig from tonidaley.com. This is the “Janet wig” named after Toni’s mother. I thought it was super cute and with some minor adjustments it would be perfect for me. I can’t wait until the weather cools down enough for me to wear this more. You can also find a plethora of accessories on her site (yes I just used the word “plethora”).

David and I stopped by the Tulsa DodgeBrawl Tournament. It was so much fun watching the teams battle it out for charity. If you missed it this year then you can go next year.

It’s great to see people accomplish what they set out to do. My mom completed her year long Bible course recently. Approximately 40 people began the class and only 14 people completed it. I am very proud of her.

I stopped by the Blue Moon Cafe on Brookside here in Tulsa. It was my first time there and I was not disappointed. I ordered the fish tacos and they were delicious. The jalapeno dressing really took the dish up a notch.

A Chocolate Lovers Paradise–Muskogee Habitat for Humanity Home Sweet Home Chocolate Festival

The 9th Annual Muskogee Habitat for Humanity Home Sweet Home Chocolate Festival was held on February 7th at the Muskogee Oklahoma Civic Center.  The event is an opportunity for the community to come together and raise money for a good cause.  A silent auction was put on with all money raised going to Habitat for Humanity.  The entrance was $15 in advance and $20 at the door.  The entry allows for all the chocolate treats and beverages you can handle. The entertainment for the night was the band Reversing Radio. Companies sponsoring the event set up booths and handed out chocolate goodies of all kinds, from petit fours to chocolate covered bacon (which was not too bad). Some of the businesses that participated were BancFirst, Creek Nation Casino, Georgia-Pacific, CASA, LIMU Energy Drinks and American Cancer Society. I got the opportunity to get some information about upcoming Oklahoma businesses. There was a great turn out. It was good to see so many people show up. This will be something on my to do list for next year. I apologize for not taking enough pictures…my hands were full and I was grubbin’!

Fly Me to The Moon – Gatesway Balloon Festival

20140920_193236

It’s not everyday that you see a hot air balloon, at least not in these parts (that sounded really country, lol). When you have the opportunity to see one you have to stop and stare. Now add a little over half a dozen hot air balloons and you have a spectacle on your hands. This weekend me and the boyfriend ventured about 30 minutes down the highway to Claremore, OK for the Gatesway Balloon Festival. Gatesway is a non-profit agency that provides vocational, social and living skills to people with intellectual disabilities.

The festival was from Friday Sept. 19th to Saturday Sept. 20th at the Cherokee Casino, Will Rogers Down. The entry to the fair was free which allowed many families the chance to come out and enjoy the festivities. There were concession stands available, which I had to take advantage of because “fair food” is one of my favorite things. There were plenty of games available for kids to enjoy including laser tag and a mechanical bull. There were also arts and crafts vendors at the festival. It was a really laid back atmosphere. I have to admit that I had a good time until we were ready to leave. The parking and the traffic flow could have been better. Hopefully as the festival grows there will be more control over these matters. If you missed it this year I’m sure the event will be around again next year, don’t miss out!
