Affordable Skincare for Combination Skin

Having combination skin has been quite interesting and at time frustrating. Trying to keep the drier areas moisturized and the oily areas oil-free is a task. Then you have to add keeping everything balanced with the right amount of moisture.

A few months back I did a post on skincare for oily skin types that listed the items I was using and how they were improving my skin. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have waited a little longer before posting that routine. My face quickly went in a super dry direction I was not expecting and I needed to switch it up a little. Here is a quick list of what I am using now and why to manage my combination skin.

Cleanser – Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub

I had to ditch my last cleanser, which was the Walmart brand of the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. The product was supposed to be moisturizing but it was the opposite on my skin. It was way too drying for me. I decided to return to the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub. I use it 3-4 times a week. It smells great and it does not dry out my skin.

Toner – Witch Hazel

If you read my last skincare post, then you probably noticed witch hazel on my list of must-haves for my combination skin. This is still something I am using. Witch hazel has so many helpful qualities that include being an anti-inflammatory, an astringent, and it shrink pores.

Spot Treatment – Clean & Clear Persa-Gel-10

Clean & Clear Persa Gel 10

This product is great for treating pimples. For years, I was using it for spot acne treatment alone. In a moment of complete frustration I scrolled the internet and found out that the active ingredients in this product can help with those pesky whiteheads on my nose. I hate those pesky whiteheads! I’ve been using this approximately 4 times a week after cleansing my face, and applying a toner. I wash my face twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. I only use this on the tip of my nose after washing my face at night. This has helped tremendously to reduce the amount of whiteheads on my nose.

Moisturizer – Formula 10.0.6 Thirst No More Moisturizer

Formula 10.0.6 Thirst No More Moisturizer

My first introduction to Formula 10.0.6 products was the PM Perfector Overnight Hydrating Cream Blackcurrant + Licorice. Initially I really liked that face moisturizer. The two things I grew to dislike about the product were the scent and the cream was not heavy enough for cooler weather. I decided to stick with this product line but try one of their other moisturizers. I decided on the Thirst No More Moisturizer because the ingredients list was not high. Also, it has the great moisturizing ingredients hyaluronic acid and shea butter.

Additional Products

  • Face Masks
    • Walgreens Nourish Facial Mask with oatmeal and avocado oil (use approximately 2 times a week)
    • Formula 10.0.6 Draw It All Out Skin-Detoxing Peel Mask with charcoal and plum (the jury is still out on this one)
    • Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips (use approximately once a month)
  • Vitamin E Oil – this is a product has been a wonderful addition to my routine (use approximately 2 times a week)
  • Blackhead Remover Pimple Comedone Extractor Tool
