Labor Day Weekend Split – Dallas/Tulsa

Whew! I had a great Labor Day weekend. It’s been about 2 years since I last set foot in Dallas, Texas. This weekend I made my journey back to this fun city. There’s something about Dallas…I can’t really put my finger on it but I’ve always felt welcomed there. We arrived on Friday evening, got our bearings and then set out for some grub. After careful deliberation…we chose Texas Roadhouse, hey why not?

We then headed back to our room and set out for the night.

The following afternoon we began our day at Pappadeux Seafood Restaurant. It’s hard to visit Dallas and not stop by Pappadeux. We had a delicious lunch.

We then stopped by the Galleria. If you haven’t heard of the Galleria in Dallas, allow me to fill you in quickly. It’s a four story mall with over 200 stores and services. One major feature of the Galleria is the ice skating rink.

We spent some time at the mall and then headed over to the Dallas Arboretum. When I heard that the Dallas Arboretum would be having 1 Dollar Days throughout the month of September I knew we had to at least swing by to check it out. If you purchase your parking pass online through their website you can get $5 off the price. We spent a total of $8 for our visit. The Dallas Arboretum is a huge landscape of beautiful plants, trees and flowers. With pathways, trails and bridges to help you get from one scenic view to the next, before you know it you’ll be lost in the view.

After a day of running around we decided to enjoy some night life. We attempted to visit the restaurant and jazz club Buttons. We were unaware of how long the wait would be prior to stopping by, so after approximately an hour wait we decided to look else-where for some grub. We landed at The Quarter, directly next door to Buttons. It was a cool little bar with plenty of tables, karaoke, tv’s all around, an attentive staff and the food wasn’t too shabby.

After spending a fun couple of days in Dallas we headed back home to Oklahoma.

Normally I would chill after a trip but not this time. Sunday night was the second to last home game for the Tulsa Drillers. The Drillers play at OneOK field in downtown Tulsa. The sports organization has done a great job at making the minor league baseball games fun for the entire family. One of the biggest attractions is the fireworks show at the end of the game.
