This may be hard to believe since I live less than 2 hours away, but I rarely travel to my neighboring state of Arkansas. For our anniversary, David and I decided to go somewhere close to home and affordable. After a few weeks of searching we decided to hang out in Northwest Arkansas. Known as the “Natural State”, Arkansas is a great state to see the beauty of nature. With the fall weather being so perfect it was a no brainer for us to visit.
Ozark Mountain Ziplines
If you’re a little on the thrill-seeking side, you should consider going ziplining. This was our second time (you can find out more about that adventure here). This time we were flying through the air of the ozark mountains in Eureka Springs, AR. Eureka Springs, AR is a small, quaint tourist town nestled in the heart of the picturesque ozark mountains. There are several ziplining companies in the area. We decided to use Ozark Mountain Ziplines. The prices were fairly reasonable for two people. They make sure you have the right equipment and they also give you several practices runs before you start. The view is awesome. We recommend going in the early fall like we did. The weather was great.

Mesmerizing Museum
After hearing nothing but good things about the Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, AR., I knew we had to add it to our itinerary for Northwest Arkansas. The majority of the museum is free to the public. This is wonderful for families or people on a tight budget. Just because the museum is free doesn’t mean there isn’t impressive artwork to see. We were very impressed and often mesmerized by the artwork on display. While there we found out that the artist who painted the portrait of former President Barak Obama had several other art pieces on display at the museum. There was also an outdoor feature, called The Color Fields, that was super cool to walk through.

If you’re a person that enjoys the outdoors, visiting Northwest Arkansas. There are hiking and mountain biking trails. There are great camping locations. The list goes on and on for activities to do in the area. I hope you enjoyed this post.
Have you visited Northwest Arkansas? If so, what did you do?
Oh! I didn’t realize they had a Kehinde Wiley painting at Crystal Bridges! He’s SO talented. We saw a traveling exhibition in OKC right before they unveiled the Obama painting and then LOVED when Philbrook added one to their collection.
